Positive About
Dogs offers training for pet dogs using modern, reward-based techniques,
notably the clicker training method. We hold small classes (limited
to 7 dogs maximum) in Studley, near Redditch, Worcestershire.
Following a special Induction Class where the clicker is introduced and explained, we meet each week for a further 6 weeks to work with our dogs, meet new people and new dogs in a positive and relaxed atmosphere. We seek to achieve a good basic level of obedience suitable for a pet dog by the end of the classes. More than that, owners should leave with a good understanding of the clicker as a tool which they can use to take these basic exercises further, develop new ones or to revisit the basics at any time. By the end of the course, the dogs and owners will have achieved the following:
The dogs will have learnt a lot about how to learn and to experiment and will have grown in confidence over the weeks. Without permission for mistakes they will have learnt that it is OK to try something else if they don't succeed in the first instance. First and foremost they will be keen and enthusiastic to please and work with you, their human companion. As well as taking part in the 'Positive About Dogs Good Dog Clicker Training Certificate' you will be aiming for the 'Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Certificate' if your dog is under 12 months old. Positive About Dogs also offers the ' Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme Awards' (see useful links and follow the link to the Kennel Club website). |
